Live Earth
First there was Live Aid, then Live 8, and now Live Earth. In a cooperative humanitarian effort to raise worldwide awareness about the increasingly troublesome effects of global warming, the international music community will come together on July 7th for a 24-hour worldwide concert series. Official concerts are planned for Giants Stadium in New York, Wembley Stadium in London, England, Aussie Stadium in Sydney, Australia, Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Maropeng at the Cradle of Humankind in Johannesburg, South Africa, Makuhari Messe in Tokyo, Japan, The Steps of the Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai, China, and HSH Nordbank Arena in Hamburg, Germany.
Over 100 superstar musical artists are scheduled to perform in one of the eight cities, and the worldwide audience via broadcasts is expected to number near 2 billion people! Some of the more notable stars that are set to appear include Kelly Clarkson, The Dave Matthews Band, Fall Out Boy, John Mayer, The Police, Kanye West, The Beastie Boys, Madonna, and Metallica... and that's just for starters.
Wow! What a line-up... make sure you make your plans to check in out, and then pick up the DVD for what is sure to be one of the greatest concerts of all time. And remember, all of the proceeds will go toward solving the very important environmental crisis of global warming.
